Keepsake Creations has changed to Sadie Mae's!

A little background about the name. Sadie and May are the names of my dear grandmothers who are both sadly no longer with us. They both inspired me to begin sewing.  I wanted to choose a name that is unique and means something to me. The sentimental aspect is also something people can relate to when they come to me for a keepsake memory gift. I changed the spelling a bit just to be trendy!

A little about me!

I graduated from the University of Ulster, Belfast in 2011 with a degree in Fine and Applied Art, specializing in Textile Art. I also come from a sewing background; my mother was a machinist in the local shirt factory for many years, my grandmother was a professional dressmaker and my other grandmother sewed and knit clothes for all her children growing up (and their dolls!). My mother-in-law also makes patchwork quilts as a past time.

I started making keepsakes after I had my second child and decided not to return to work. I wanted to work from home, so I could bring up my children, and be there for them. I could also be my own boss and set my own hours. Being able to do something I love as a 'job', and be at home with my children is a dream come true.

I had previously made a keepsake bear for my daughter because I loved her first babygros and I couldn't bear to part with them. They held so many memories for me, but were just put away in the attic eventually to be forgotten about. I wanted to do something special with them so I made my first keepsake bear, and it went from there. I have also made a memory quilt for my son from his baby clothes, and have now added many more animals to the keepsake family!
